Understanding Error Code CC: Drying Fan Malfunction

The error code CC on your AEG, Electrolux, or Quelle-Privileg dishwasher indicates a fault related to the drying fan system. This system, often called “AirDry” or a similar feature, uses a fan to circulate air within the dishwasher tub to improve drying performance at the end of a cycle. When the main control board does not receive the correct signal from the fan or cannot power it, this error is triggered.

There are two primary components to investigate when this error appears.

Possible Causes and Solutions

  • Cause 1: The Drying Fan is Defective The fan itself may have failed. This can be due to a seized motor, an electrical fault within the fan’s components, or physical damage that prevents it from spinning. The control module attempts to activate the fan during the drying phase, and if it fails to start or run at the correct speed, the CC error code will be displayed.

    • What to check: After disconnecting the dishwasher from power, you can attempt to access the fan assembly. Check for any visible obstructions that might be jamming the blades. Gently try to spin the fan blades by hand; if they do not move freely or feel stiff, the motor is likely seized and the fan unit requires replacement.
  • Cause 2: The Control Module is Faulty The control module is the electronic “brain” of the dishwasher and is responsible for sending power to all components, including the drying fan. A fault on the circuit board, such as a failed relay or a burnt trace, can prevent it from sending the necessary voltage to operate the fan. In this scenario, the fan itself may be perfectly functional, but it never receives the command to turn on. This control module is typically located on the left side of the appliance, accessible by removing the outer side panel.

    • What to check: A visual inspection of the control module may reveal signs of failure, such as burn marks, discoloration, or bulging capacitors. Check the wiring harness connecting the module to the fan for any loose or damaged connections. Warning: Diagnosing and replacing a control module requires handling sensitive electronic components and should be approached with caution.

For safety and proper diagnosis, it is recommended to disconnect the dishwasher from its power and water supply before attempting any inspection.

  1. Inspect the Fan: Locate and visually inspect the drying fan for any blockages or damage.
  2. Inspect the Control Module: Visually inspect the control module (usually on the left side) and its wiring connections for any obvious signs of damage.

Due to the electrical nature of these components, if you are not experienced with appliance repair, we strongly recommend contacting an authorized service technician. They have the specific diagnostic tools to determine whether the fan or the control module is the source of the fault and can safely perform the necessary replacement.
