Understanding the ER16 Error Code

Error code ER16 points to a problem with the I²C bus (Inter-Integrated Circuit bus). The I²C bus is the dedicated electronic pathway used by the washing machine’s main control board (the ECU) and the display or user interface board to transmit essential data, commands, and status updates. When ER16 appears, it indicates that communication between these vital electronic components has failed, resulting in the machine being unable to proceed with or complete a wash cycle.

Step 1: Attempt a System Reset (Power Cycle)

In many cases, an internal communication error can be triggered by a temporary voltage spike or an electronic glitch. A complete system reboot can often clear these temporary faults and restore communication.

To attempt a power cycle:

1. Turn off the washing machine using the main power button or cycle selector knob.
